Meskerem Ethiopian restaurant and room service sorbet (Washington D.C.)

What a treat to have great Ethiopian food in D.C. We haven't gone to a good Ethiopian restaurant since we lived in Los Angeles. This place, Meskerem, was great, though it was super popular and we had to wait a big on a Friday night.

As an appetizer, we had a couple of sambusa (stuffed with minced beef, green chili, and herbs).

Then we had a messob, which is a mix of lots of different meat and vegetarian dishes, eaten with the spongy bread, injera.

Even Ruby tried some of the blander dishes! You eat this stuff with your hands, but I brought a spoon in my bag for Ruby!

When we got back to the hotel, we needed something sweet, so we ordered room service sorbet. One was blood orange and the other was lemon-ginger. Both were delicious.
